Silk was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Ilkay Silk was a well-known actress, director and producer who taught in St. Thomas University. Her parents were Peter who was a renowned academic. Anna remembers her earliest memories of life when she went to watch her mother's performance in rehearsals for plays. Silk created a variety of commercials while she was still a kid. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Arts from St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas staged two plays in the early years: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk made the move to Toronto to pursue her acting career in the month of November 1999. She later, in the next decade, she moved into Los Angeles, California. She met her soon-to-be spouse, Seth Cooperman, at an actor's training in Los Angeles, in 2007. After getting engaged in 2008, they married in 2009. On April 10, 2011 the couple renewed their vows at a Jewish ceremony in Fredericton after she converted to Judaism.
