Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actor. Also, she sings. Her family was home-schooled by her mom and her father, in USA. Her childhood was filled with racist taunts and being made to feel unwelcome. It was in her ninth grade when she began to gain confidence after being highly praised at an audition. The singer not only gained confidence through the audition and gained experience, but also changed her career goals. When she was 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. In the Broadway first production of Spamalot She played the Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as high praise from critics. In the year following, she joined the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. As a well-known singer, she has also recorded songs and plays. In addition, she's an activist who is a tireless advocate in the fight for LGBT rights.
